The Leo Tolstoy love story from 1878, has vastly been referred to as a "flawless work of art."
The tragedy of a married Socialite and Aristocrat, Anna Karenina, and her love affair has captivated many for over a century. Joe Wright's 2012 depiction of the story, highlighting how society is all but simply a stage with characters acting their parts, was one of the most exquisitely produced films I have ever seen. I was absolutely enthralled with the constantly evolving story telling, the monumental sets, elaborate costumes, and over the top grandeur.
Keira Knightly, who is the lead in the film, has an incredible ability to transport you to a time where restraint and formality were paramount. And yet, her uncanny kills to relay emotion with but a flare of a nostril or a pout of her mouth is riveting.
If you have not seen this movie. Do so now. I personally can not wait to own it for myself, so I can watch it over and over. Watch the trailer below, and get lost in a world where asking "Why?" is no longer a question.
