A new study at Kent State University found that people who spend more time on their smartphones were less physically fit than their lower-use counterparts. "Because the cell phone is always on hand, it creates a constant invitation to sit and play," explains study author Andrew Lepp, PhD.
"Just 90 minutes -
The average amount of mobile phone time (calls, texts, games) the fittest folks in the study logged per day.
The least fit group racked up as many as 14 hours per day!"
Use your time at the gym to detach, let go, and focus on yourself for at least one hour. Chances are, for many of us, it's one of the only times we aren't responding to texts, checking emails, or making phone calls. Enjoy it.
