Alongside encouraging aggressive behavior, men are not allowed to be vulnerable, and often feel the need to silence their own voice, which only leads to more aggressive behavior. Grace Brown's Project Unbreakable, an online platform that strives to "increase awareness of the issues surrounding sexual assault," has highlighted many male victims of sexual assault, from both genders. Some of the shocking responses can be seen below.
I was fortunate my family and friends were so supportive, because I was unable to hide my feminine ways. I came out of the closet at 14 years old. I was on the dance team, I was a cheerleader, and I barely weighed 100 lbs with blond curls and big red lips. Many boys who identify as LGBT at a young age, are not as lucky if they decide to come out early, or even worse, don't have a choice. Often times, as a matter of self preservation, staying in the closet is the only option. The pressures to be like everyone else, can be crippling. So crippling so, that many young boys have no where else to turn.
