I swear, it's about 400 degrees in L.A. today. If it's anything like last summer, I will be fanning myself more than Karl Lagerfeld does while front row at Milan Fashion Week.
Being an 80's baby, tanning beds were something that seemed regular as a pre-summer ritual to "get my base tan." Now, knowing all the hazards behind those beds (10 minutes in a high pressure bed is equivalent to 4 hours in the sun) you couldn't pay me enough to get in one.
I wear an SPF 45 at all times on my face. Let's be honest, I practically wear SPF at night with my alabaster complexion. So, I decided to share my two favorites.
Pictured at left is the La Roche-Posay "Anthelios 60," which was recommended to me by my friend, NYC dermatologist Anthony Mario.
The formula is so incredibly light, you almost can't believe it's working. Remember the days of thick, greasy sunscreen? Well now more than ever, those pore-clogging creams seem like ancient history thanks to Anthelios.
Not only does it deliver broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, but it is so light-weight, I love it as a primer for under make-up. It seems to even smooth out fine lines and adds just the perfect amount of "dewy-ness."
We all know a tan in the summer is an enviable quality. Nothing pops against neon accessories and slinky ensembles more than a summer glow. At the end of the day though, the permanent damage the sun can wreak isn't worth it to me. That's why I enlist "Spray Tanner to the Stars," Jenni Blafer of "Sun-Kissed Jenni." She has been keeping me poolside ready like she did in Vegas, and for all my WIMBERLEAN photo shoots.
While sunblock alone will not keep you young forever, it certainly won't hurt. Check out one of my Style Icon's, Gwen Stefani below, who won't even hit the beach without a hat, shades, and an umbrella....not to mention probably one (or both) of the products above.
